I can't express how grateful I am to have such a strong and supportive network here in San Francisco. I seriously psych myself out when planning parties because I seriously think no one will come. I know I'm a total little weirdo. But, I'm sure you know that feeling...you send out a Paperless Post invite and just wonder...why has no one responded to me?! (after like 30 seconds of deploying). Thank goodness I received a ton of "Yes" responses. Whew! Party on!
I wanted to add some of my own touches to the party by making and bringing some of my favorite brunch goodies to share with my guests. Since my party was on Sunday, I made the decision to drag my husband, bro-in-law and his girlfriend to The Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building.
A big thing I wanted to focus on at my party was sharing some of my favorite local treats from around San Francisco. I love supporting other entrepreneurs and the local economy and wanted to share these gems with my guests.
I picked up some lemons, grapefruit and other in-season citruses for my breakfast champagne cocktail (recipe link down below)
Next stop - Baked Goods!
They are located in the front of the Ferry Building and carry a wide variety of Macaroons and other french treats.
OMG...some of the best biscuits I've ever had here in San Francisco. The flavors and texture are just out of this world. I'm pretty confident that I purchased all the flavors.
They started off selling their baked goods at a farmer's market in Piedmont, CA (in the East Bay) and then grew from there. Everything about them screams chic and cute all at once. Oh and delicious.
This place is a San Francisco institution! I had to grab some chocolates for my give-away bags so I walked all the way here to grab a bunch.
The morning of my party, my loving husband (sorry babe!) drove and all of my treats over to the Marina to start prepping the studio with Nichole. He was the best assistant that we could have asked for! He even bought us coffee and a light snack so we would have the energy to decorate and organize.
Bacon Whiskey Cupcakes
I love bacon. I mean, it's a hard thing to dislike (unless you're vegetarian or vegan, which in that case I am sorry and I do not consume bacon a lot, only in moderation :P)
Since we would be shopping and trying on clothes, I didn't want to just bring bacon strips to the party and risk having my guests get grease on the clothing. So, I decided instead to incorporate bacon into one of my favorite forms of cake: a cupcake!
It's portable and easy to consume without making too much of a mess.
I took my favorite yellow cake recipe and mixed it in with crispy pieces of bacon. The frosting is a honey bourbon vanilla frosting and the bacon toppers are made of fondant from Wilton.
I also decided to make another cute portable treat: Waffle pops! The waffle maker is from Babycakes (same author of the famous Cake Pop book)
That's a wrap!
Party was a success! Thank you Jess & Nichole for believing in me and hosting such a great party! I can't wait until next time!!
